What to expect

- Limited Edition champagne made for Emperor with Frerejean Freres

- Minimum of 5 years in the cellar with an additional one in the bottle

- A richer style wine so pair with a truffle risotto or a poulet fermier

Step aside ‘Le Boring Brut’ and let me introduce this winning cuvée, available exclusively for Emperor in Australia. This is a high quality champagne designed to blow people’s minds..and the odd fabulous food pairing!

This cuvée celebrates 250 years since Napoleon's birth (1769 - 2019) and is the collaboration between Emperor and the Frerejean Frères team. The Frerejean family had a special relationship with Napoleon as they used to be cannon-makers during the 1700's and supplied cannons to his army.

What’s inside?

50/50 chardonnay and pinot noir with 30% reserve wines. The chardonnay is from Cramant & Avize and the pinot noir is from Grauves (same village as Sir Winston Churchill Cuvee). The dosage is balanced and perfectly in check with the wine. Didier is keeping the actual dosage a secret, so you can make your own guess!

Tasting note:

The nose is clearly mineral-driven, with flint, fresh florals and citrus. Some orange skin, biscuit and honey.

Palate richness is evident, with vanilla, creme caramel, toast and some red berry fruit coming through. There is a generous roundness on the palate that is both elegant and decadent. We love it!

About the house

About the house

Founded in Avize, a village of Champagne ranked as a Grand Cru, the House of Frerejean Frères was established in 2005. Only 10 hectares in size, this boutique production aspires to preserve and respect the unique terroir, allowing the vines and the wines to express the power and the subtlety of the land. The Frerejean-Taittinger brothers grew up with love and respect for the Champagne tradition. Passionate for oenology, Guillaume, Richard and Rodolphe created their own House of Champagne. Rodolphe has a lot of flair and style and this is reflected in their champagnes.
